YEAR 10 ART TRIP TO THE TATE ST IVES AND THE BARBARA HEPWORTH MUSEUM

15th July 2005

On the 30th June ninety students and six members of staff went to St Ives. After a soggy walk from the car park through the centre of town students were given guided tours of both galleries by the Tate staff. Work looked at included wooden sculptures by Richard Deacon based on the movement of waves, paintings by Paul Feiler and old classics by Mondrian, Ben Nicholson, Turner and Matisse.

After lunch the rain stopped long enough for some students to sit on the beach to sketch and others to spend time looking at the fantastic sculpture in the Barbara Hepworth museum and garden.

There was some good work produced by the students on the day and since returning numerous interesting ideas have been incorporated into the current module of work and we look forward to seeing the final outcomes.
